WATCH: Jetstar passengers burst into song as “allegedly drunk” woman is removed by police

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) were called aboard a Jetstar flight from the Gold Coast on Sunday to escort a 42-year old woman who refused to leave the aircraft.

A video posted to TikTok shows two AFP forcibly removing the woman from the flight with one officer having to pull her from the seat while the rest of the passengers broke out into song, singing the classic lines “Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye” from Steam’s 1969 hit (Kiss Him Goodbye).

A statement from JetStar to 7 News said: “We requested the assistance of the AFP after a passenger became increasingly disruptive prior to departure and refused to follow crew instructions.

“The safety of our customers and crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive behaviour.”

The woman had been asked to leave the plane “due to her alleged level of intoxication,” according to the AFP. She was charged with ‘behaving in an offensive manner on an aircraft’ which, if convicted, carries a significant penalty of $13,750.

The woman will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 20 March.
