Hobart Airport signs long term food & beverage and retail agreement
Edited by Travel Weekly

With passenger numbers on the rise, and plans for a new runway and a terminal expansion, Hobart Airport has announced two long-term agreements to provide food & beverage and retail shops as part of its planned terminal expansion.

SSP has been selected to operate food & beverage outlets, and Lagardère AWPL for the retail shops. The Mercurius Group supported Hobart Airport with the selection process.

Hobart Airport CEO Norris Carter said the seven-year agreements will see an improved experience for airport visitors.

“We’ve had long term relationships with both SSP and Lagardère AWPL, and we’re looking forward to being able to provide improved offerings for travellers,” Carter said.

Carter said that working with SSP and Lagardère AWPL allows us to have a mix of local brands and well-known international brands to meet the needs of the millions of passengers that pass-through Hobart Airport each year.

“SSP and Lagardère AWPL will continue to partner with local brands to bring the best of Tasmania to Hobart Airport, with plans over time to more than double the current food and beverage and retail offerings at Hobart Airport,” Carter said.

“These brands will sit alongside the existing offerings, adding quick service restaurants, a 100 per cent Tasmanian offering, and cafés with local produce.

“The retail expansion will see more options for travellers including local produce and gifts, travel essentials, technology, beauty, and duty free.”

Costa Kouros, Lagardère AWPL CEO said he was “looking forward to continuing our strong relationship with Hobart Airport for many years to come, delivering exciting retail experiences using the full breadth of our businesses’ unique expertise”.

Jonathan Robinson, SSP Asia Pacific CEO joined in welcoming the agreements, saying it was great to be able to build on the relationship with Hobart Airport and develop a truly unique food and beverage offering that is distinctly Tasmanian, with an international feel.
