Globus thanks agents, suppliers for a fabulous 90 years

To celebrate 90 years of Globus, Globus family of brands held an almighty shindig in Sydney last week to thank the travel industry for their ongoing support and collaboration.

According to Globus, the internationally themed party, held at the National Art School’s historic Cell Block Theatre in Darlinghurst last Wednesday, was their way to thank the agents and partners who have supported the company during its nine decades of operation.

Gai Tyrrell, managing director of Globus Australasia, spoke on the night about Globus’ commitment to working with travel agents as a key element of the company’s strategy to maintain strong relationships with travellers and guests.

“At Globus we deeply value our relationships with the industry, and this event is our way of saying thank you for 90 years of partnership and support, while also raising a toast to our continued collaboration and success,” said Tyrrell.

“The company has an exciting future with a suite of new products and experiences recently launched into the market, including Escapes by Globus, Globus Private Touring and Cosmos Lite.

“On behalf of the whole Globus team, we thank you for sharing the journey with us.

“Since 1928 Globus has been committed to curating the perfect trip for travellers, and tonight our commitment to you is a party you’ll never forget. Let’s have some fun!”

Sydney cover band, Enter Sideways, provided some great tunes to get the dance floor pumping and the crowd came together to sing, dance, and celebrate in style.

The company’s Swiss roots were also represented with a cheese and charcuterie display, alongside a French Champagne bar, Irish whiskey bar and British Pimm’s garden as a nod to Great Britain to celebrate the recent launch of Globus’ Undiscovered Britain tours for 2019.

Television personality Steve Jacobs kept the crowd entertained with amusing anecdotes, Globus fun-facts, trivia and his own adventures with Globus, even joining the band on-stage for a singalong.

“It was an amazing event, we were so very proud to have celebrated our 90th with our industry colleagues and friends. Everyone I spoke to had a great night celebrating with the Globus team,” said Tyrrell.

During the event, Globus donated a tour for two through Switzerland to Rural Aid, the Australian charity dedicated to supporting rural communities. Globus also gave away a second tour for two through Switzerland to a lucky agent – Campbell Harris from Global Journeys – who graciously donated his prize to the charity as well.

The donation marked the company’s ongoing support for Australian farmers doing it tough during the record-length drought. Earlier this year Globus was part of Rural Aid’s Buy a Bale campaign, donating a bale of hay to Australian farmers for every booking made throughout August.
