United to launch non-stop Melbourne to LA service
By admin

United’s Melbourne passengers will benefit from faster journeys to Los Angeles as the airline confirmed plans to commence six times weekly non-stop Boeing 787-9 flights between the two cities from October 28.

Subject to government approval, the service marks the carrier’s first non-stop trans-Pacific service from Melbourne and its first international deployment of a Dreamliner.

Its launch will coincide with the termination of United’s service between Melbourne and Sydney.

“This new service will benefit all our customers in Australia,” United vice chairman and chief revenue officer Jim Compton said.

“Our Melbourne customers will enjoy faster journeys to Los Angeles and beyond, as well as improved inflight comfort and amenities.”

The new flights have been scheduled to connect with United’s network in the US, Canada and Latin America.  With this new service, the airline will provide convenient one-stop service between Melbourne and more than 37 US cities.

Flight time of the new service will be approximately 14 hours, 35 minutes eastbound and 15 hours, 45 minutes westbound.

The airline will also seek to make changes to its daily services from Sydney to San Francisco and Los Angeles in order to enable faster connections across the Americas, Compton said.
