Topdeck has said strong demand for New Zealand has led to the addition of extra departures to a range of tours in November and January.

New departures include the 16-day Grand Kiwi tour on November 17 and January 16, the 14-day Kiwi Encounter itinerary on November 19 and January 18 and the six-day Southern Explorer tour on November 27 and January 26.

The first two depart Auckland with the Southern Explorer starting in Christchurch.

Topdeck has also added a seven-day Northern Explorer trip, departing Auckland on November 19.

Tourism New Zealand and Destination Queenstown will launch a joint marketing campaign to increase tourism arrivals over the summer.

The 'Everyday a different story' crusade will be rolled out in New South Wales and Victoria from today and will showcase the variety of adventure tourism product.

Jetstar will also collaborate on the campaign.

Virgin Australia carried 2.2% more domestic passengers in September but load factors fell as capacity increases outstripped demand.

The number of available seats climbed 6% compared to September 2012, but revenue passenger kilometres only rose 3.1%. The disparity led to loads tumbling 2.2 percentage points to 77%. Yields held steady, the airline reported.

Meanwhile, passengers travelling on Virgin's international network climbed 5.2% to 233,000 while capacity was flat. Load factors increased 1.4 percentage points to 84.4%.

The carrier also detailed the September performance of Tigerair Australia with the low cost airline lifting capacity by 20% compared to 12 months ago. Revenue passenger kilometres increased almost 24% while loads hit 86.7%, up 3.1 points on September 2012.
