LATAM ups APAC focus with new Sydney office
By admin

LATAM Airlines Group will ramp up its Australian presence with its commercial and airport operations to be handled internally from a new Sydney address.

The move sees the South American airline group recover responsibility for its Australian operations from World Aviation Systems which has acted as its GSA locally for more than 13 years.

The new CBD office will house LATAM's growing team and will act as headquarters for the Asia Pacific region.

Patricio Aylwin, managing director Asia Pacific, said the move marks a "new beginning" for the recently merged airline group.

"We have grown significantly as a business and are now equipped with a stronger team that will enable us to seize the opportunities in the Asia Pacific region," he said.

"We see huge potential in this market and look forward to further improving our services and firmly establishing LATAM in the region."

LATAM currently flies six times weekly between Sydney and Santiago via Auckland, and codeshares with Oneworld Alliance partner Qantas on three direct services between the two cities.

World Aviation Systems will still manage LATAM's operations in New Zealand.
