Jetstar grows fleet to 100
By admin

Jetstar’s fleet has grown to 100 aircraft, with the airline's Australia and New Zealand operation taking delivery of a new Airbus A320.

It is the group's third aircraft to be fitted with Sharklet fuel saving wing-tips, and the first to be based in Australia.

It has been adorned with a special livery to commemorate the 100-aircraft milestone, featuring 132 passengers and ambassadors from across Asia Pacific to represent the five Jetstar-branded airlines.

Chief executive Jayne Hrdlicka said the delivery makes Jetstar the fastest airline brand in Asia Pacific to build its fleet to 100 aircraft. It has carried more than 100 million passengers since its 2004 launch, when it operated just 14 aircraft.

“The delivery of this new A320, with its remarkable wing-tip technology, reflects our ongoing commitment to invest in modern aircraft and innovation to benefit our customers,” she said.

“The distinctive wing-tips bring about higher fuel efficiencies and help us to continue to delivery everyday low fares to our customers.”

Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Japan already have aircraft fitted with the Sharklets.

Hrdlicka highlighted growth opportunities for the airline group over the coming years as it expands into the world’s “most exciting” aviation markets.
