Agents should embrace online

Agents should embrace online

Sabre Pacific has promoted bricks and clicks as the future for travel agencies, following research that 6 out of 10 Australian holidays were booked online in 2012.

Rather than seeing this as a move away from brick and mortar agencies, Sabre Pacific says that this trend can be leveraged by traditional agencies.

"Customers are extremely sophisticated and don’t want to compromise on receiving a high level of customer service, particularly when making big ticket purchases such as overseas trips," Sabre Pacific CIO Mark Mison said.

Opportunities exist where agencies integrate online booking engines into their websites.

"This presents huge sales opportunities for travel agencies and offers a great point of difference, particularly for smaller agencies," Mison said.

"Personally, I think this combined approach is the future for the travel industry."
