Singapore Airlines’ Kris+ expands to Australia

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has given its KrisFlyer programme in Australia a significant boost by expanding its Kris+ lifestyle rewards app in Sydney and Melbourne. This app allows users to earn and redeem miles at partners including cafes, restaurants and bars outside of Singapore for the first time.

Kris+ is the first lifestyle, rewards and payments mobile application affiliated with a frequent flyer programme that is available in multiple countries.

Customers can also access exclusive privileges with a variety of partners across Australia offering discounts on a range of items from coffee to amusement parks, airport transfers and harbour cruising.

The app has today launched as a Beta version in Australia, with miles earn and redemption capabilities being made available in Sydney and Melbourne CBDs. Around 100 partner merchants are expected to come on board within the first month of launch.

SIA’s regional vice president South West Pacific, Mr Louis Arul said that the introduction of miles earn and redemption functionality through Kris+ in Australia greatly increases the number of opportunities for KrisFlyer members to earn and redeem miles through everyday purchases.

“We are always looking to expand opportunities for our frequent flyer members to earn and redeem their miles and we are excited to bring more partners on board in the months ahead.”

In Australia, Kris+ offers an earn rate of up to three miles for every dollar spent at participating merchants via Apple Pay or Google Pay on the app. It also offers customers the option to redeem their earned miles at a rate of 150 miles for $1 off their bill.

First-time Kris+ users can enjoy a bonus of up to 2,000 miles by logging in with their KrisFlyer account and making transactions of at least AUD$15 at Kris+ partners across Sydney and Melbourne until 31 December 2023. Users who make a payment at one participating partner will enjoy a bonus of 1,000 miles, while users who make payments at two or more participating partners will enjoy a bonus of 2,000 miles.

Australia has SIA’s largest KrisFlyer membership base outside of Singapore, with more than 1.3 million members. The Kris+ app has already been downloaded more than 2.1 million times globally, with over 100,000 downloads in Australia.

Kris+ first launched in Singapore in 2020 and is now available for use at more than 1,500 partner outlets across the country. Australians travelling to Singapore can also use the Kris+ app when they visit the country, providing even more possibilities to further extend their miles earn and redemption choices. Privileges and discounts are also available across 15 other countries in the SIA network, including India, Japan and Thailand.
