Foodies, gourmands and epicureans will love World Expeditions’ latest food tour – Gourmet San Sebastian: an Insider’s Food Tour with Ben Groundwater.

Groundwater dove headfirst into the Basque region’s hidden gourmet gems during an eighteen-month sabbatical in Spain and will reveal all of his foodie secrets when he takes World Expeditions guests along for eight flavour-filled days this October.

This exclusive gourmet tour has been entirely designed by Groundwater and features legends of the region with visits to pintxos bars, three-Michelin-starred fine-dining restaurants, market tours with local chefs, cider-house visits and personal experiences not found anywhere else.

But wait, there’s more. Art walks with San Sebastian artists, entrance to the Balenciaga museum in Getaria, craft beer tasting in Gros and the chance to walk a section of the Camino del Norte pilgrimage trail.

The tour takes in the picturesque, food-obsessed towns of Getaria, Tolosa and St-Jean-de-Luz, alongside the birthplace of Basque-style tapas, San Sebastian.

“This is a dream of mine, to return to the places my heart and tastebuds fell in love with,” says Groundwater, who’s known for his travel columns in the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

“We’re going to dive deep into Basque culture and Basque cuisine, sample a few icons, and revisit so many of my favourite haunts and meet the providores and chefs that make this region so memorable.”

Groundwater is also the author of five travel and food books and the name behind the Flight of Fancy travel podcast.

“Ben Groundwater is a legend in the travel media world and we’re thrilled to partner with him on this tour,” CEO, World Expeditions Travel Group, Sue Badyari, said.

“His knowledge and contacts in the Basque region are second to none and we know he’ll give our guests a tour you won’t find anywhere else.”

The eight-day tour features four dinners (including a three-Michelin-star extravaganza), five lunches and seven breakfasts plus seven nights in a boutique hotel and all the food, art and walking activities personally escorted by Ben.
