Virgin Australia to resume Vanuatu & Samoa flights

Sydney, Australia - October 7, 2013: Virgin Australia Airlines Boeing 737 airliner landing at Sydney Airport.

Virgin Australia announced that it will resume flying to Vanuatu and Samoa in March as the airline rebuilds its international network.

Direct services from Brisbane to Port Vila, Vanuatu will commence on 10 March with up to five flights a week (on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

Services to Apia, Samoa will commence from Sydney on 21 March and from Brisbane on 23 March – both with up to two flights a week (APWSYD operating Tuesday and Saturday, APWBNE operating Wednesday and Sunday ex-Brisbane and Monday and Thursday ex-Apia).

“Virgin Australia is delighted to be returning to Vanuatu and Samoa in March this year,” a Virgin Australia spokesperson said.

“The addition of Samoa and Vanuatu to Virgin Australia’s network will give holiday makers and those looking to reconnect with family and friends a greater choice of Pacific Island destinations.”

The flights will be on Virgin’s Boeing 737 jets with business class and Economy X seats available alongside economy.

Virgin Australia also recently announced a new year-round, daily Cairns-Tokyo (Haneda) service, adding over 2,000 seats per week from 28 June 2023.

The route, operating for the first time, is being launched in partnership with the Queensland Government and Cairns Airport through the Queensland Government’s Attracting Aviation Investment Fund.

“I’m thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new daily, year-round Cairns-Haneda service with VA77 taking off on 28 June next year,” Jayne Hrdlicka, Virgin Australia Group CEO said.

“We’re excited to offer our guests access directly into and out of Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, on new fuel-efficient aircraft.”
