THE REAL LOVE BOAT: A reality TV show based on the 1970s comedy is coming to channel 10

A reality TV show based on the Love Boat is set to hit screens in Australia later this year, featuring a luxury cruise ship packed with singles looking for love.

CBS and Network 10 have both ordered localized versions of The Real Love Boat, a reality dating competition series inspired by “The Love Boat,” the hit 1970s scripted series that used Princess Cruises ships as its setting.

Production begins in mid-2022, and both versions are expected to air in the US and Australia later this year, taking place on Princess Cruises ships, just as the original series did.

The The Love Boat IP is owned by CBS Studios which, along with CBS and Network 10, are Paramount Global brands.

“‘The Love Boat’ is a timeless, romantic concept with universal appeal, and we’re excited to reimagine this popular series for audiences in two different countries,” said George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS, and head of global content strategy for Paramount’s free-to-air networks, including Network 10.

The series will bring singles together to cruise the Mediterranean on a luxury cruise ship while looking for love.

Destination dates, challenges and surprise singles will test the couples’ compatibility and chemistry. Combine that with an open bar and we can’t wait for the drama to ensue.

Contestants will spend around a month at sea with just one couple making it to the final port to take home a cash prize and free trip courtesy of Princess.

Like the original scripted series, crew members including “captain” and “cruise director” will play pivotal roles in the matchmaking and navigation of the romantic (and sometimes turbulent) waters ahead.

Channel 10 is currently on the hunt for contestants, so if you fancy finding the love of your life while competing against a hoard of half-naked singles on a cruise ship click HERE.
