Club Med’s Pacific boss speak out against WA’s delayed reopening

Club Med, the kings of all-inclusive holidays, has come out in support of Western Australia’s travel agent community in response to the state’s delayed reopening.

Last week, WA Premier Mark Mcgowan announced the state would be delaying the reopening of its border indefinitely in response to the spread of the Omicron variant across Australian states.

Club Med’s regional general manager, Michelle Davies (pictured above), describes the lack of clarity from the Government on its reopening plan as “deeply frustrating” and said tourism businesses and travel agents need certainty in order to thrive.

“Western Australia’s border delays are suppressing our travel agent’s valuable potential,” Davies said.

“Australia collectively needs to focus on rebuilding and instilling confidence in the travel sector, without anyone or any State being left behind.

“Extra compassion needs to go towards travel agents who have gone through so much adversity throughout this pandemic. We’re focusing our efforts on how we can support our travel partners and agents nationally, including those in Western Australia.”

Throughout the pandemic, Club Med has launched initiatives aimed at supporting agents, such as the launch of Club Med Connect National Roadshows.

The company has also managed to maintain a full sales team on the road nationally to provide support to agents with tailored approaches to meet their specific needs, including training on Club Med’s brand as well as market trends specific to WA.
