Jetstar pilot arrested in connection to missing campers

A Jetstar pilot has been arrested over the disappearance of two campers who went missing in Victoria’s high country last year.

Greg Lynn, who has worked for Jetstar for over a decade, was arrested on Monday at a campsite in Gippsland, police sources told The Sydney Morning Herald.

During the arrest, police seized his beige Nissan Patrol they believed may be connected to the disappearance of Russell Hill and Carol Clay in March 2020.

Police had been seeking a blue Nissan Patrol that appeared in CCTV footage driving around the area at the time of Hill and Clay’s disappearance.

Police told The Sydney Morning Herald the beige vehicle that was seized had previously been painted blue.

Hill and Clay, who were aged 74 and 73 respectively, have not been seen since the two left for their camping trip on 19 March.

They were last heard from on 20 March when Hill used his radio to contact friends around 6:30pm. Their burnt-out campsite was found the next day.

A Jetstar spokesperson has confirmed one of the airline’s employees was under investigation for a serious crime, and that the airline will work to assist authorities in any way it can.

“As a matter of course, the employee has been removed from duty as a result of their arrest,” the spokesperson said.

The airline also told the national broadcaster that Lynn was a pilot who worked for the airline and that he had been stood down from his position.

The 55-year-old was reportedly a captain at Qatar Airways for five years before beginning his role at Jetstar in 2007.

No charges have been laid against Lynn, but he was still in police custody this morning and is being questioned at Sale Police Station.
