New role for Jan Swartz as part of Carnival’s mass exec leadership changes

Carnival Corporation has announced the appointment of Jan Swartz as group president of Holland America Group.

In her new role, Swartz will be responsible for Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn and P&O Cruises Australia, as well as Holland America Princess Alaska Tours and inter-group operations.

Swartz was previously the group president of Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia, as well as having executive oversight of the P&O Cruises Australia brand.

She has also held a number of other senior positions across the three brands, as well as Cunard.

Additionally, Swartz is the president of the Princess Cruises Community Foundation.

Carnival president and CEO Arnold Donald described Swartz as a “highly respected executive and a role model”.

“Jan is a champion of innovation and a proven leader,” he said.

Carnival has also announced three key changes for Cunard’s senior leadership team in North America.

Jamie Paiko, currently the senior director of marketing, has been appointed to vice president of sales. She will also be responsible for the cruise line’s US public relations efforts.

Nicole Knox, who holds the position of manager of advertising and marketing, has been promoted to director of marketing.

Expanding his role as director of pricing and demand for Cunard North America, Jeriel Lubaton will add management of the customer service team to his responsibilities.

Lubaton oversees pricing and performance for Cunard in North America and Asia. He also leads the revenue management team and handles global executive reporting and forecasting.

Cunard president Simon Palethorpe said: “Throughout its esteemed history, North America has been a cornerstone of Cunard’s success.

“We plan on growing this evermore, including through our return to sailing in Alaska, and these three appointments will further strengthen our presence in [the] North American market.”

Peter Anderson

Carnival has also named Peter Anderson as an executive officer of the group.

Anderson joined Carnival in August 2019 in a newly created role as the chief ethics and compliance officer.

Finally, Stein Kruse has been appointed to a new role as a senior advisor to Carnival’s chairman and CEO.

Kruse previously served as the group CEO of Holland America Group and Carnival UK.

“Stein’s knowledge and experience have been invaluable to the corporation during the course of his career,” Donald said.

“This new role provides us an opportunity to further leverage his expertise and skills, providing widespread benefits to the company.”
