This week, Crystalbrook’s general manager for its Riley property gave us the 411 on his time in lockdown and how he achieved a work-life balance.

What are you reading?

Completing some study in HR at the moment, so that’s keeping my reading up!

What are you cooking?

Does Uber Eats count as a form of cooking? Asking for a friend.

There hasn’t been a lot of excitement in my kitchen lately – a lot of roast vegetable salads and classics like crispy skin salmon and cajun chicken!

How are you staying fit both physically and mentally?

I keep busy with running, cycling, mountain bike riding and swimming, and it’s been great hanging out with my goddaughter as well!

What’s something positive you’ve witnessed or experienced since the coronavirus hit?

Seeing our team at Crystalbrook Collection working hard to improve our business during closure – the pure resilience, flexibility and dedication that our team have shown has been inspiring during these testing times.

What have you learned about yourself amid the crisis?

That I don’t follow politics for a reason.. (insert laugh).

Learning to properly manage my work-life balance has been incredibly important, and has been a great reminder to keep a healthy balance in all aspects of life.

What’s your advice for others in the industry on coping with the crisis?

Try and focus on what you can control within your business and personal worlds – look for opportunities to improve yourself and the business. It’s a great time to set healthy habits with work-life balance right now.

Where is your favourite domestic travel destination?

Apart from TNQ – Noosa is home.

What is the one international travel memory keeping you going through this time?

The Paolyn Houseboat at Coron Island in the Philippines – it’s amazing and I can’t wait to go back!

Where do you want to travel to once international travel restrictions ease up?

Cambodia or South America.
