Pastor steps down after being accused of peeing on plane passenger

A pastor from North Carolina has stepped down after being accused of urinating on a woman during a Delta flight.

Police reports obtained by The Charlotte Observer revealed that the man, Daniel Chalmers, was on board Delta flight874 from Las Vegas to Detroit and was spotted standing next to a woman who let out a “blood-curdling scream”.

A police officer who was on board the flight said he saw Chalmers stand up in his seat and walk towards the tail of the aircraft.

“Chalmers appeared to be awake but yet walking as if he had just woken up or was dealing with the pitch of the aircraft as he sidestepped momentarily,” the officer said.

“Within approximately 30 seconds of his passing by my row of seats, a woman behind me let out a blood-curdling scream that woke and startled the entire flight.

“Passengers began sitting up, cabin lights came on and when I turned to see what had happened, I observed Chalmers standing next to the victim, Alicia Beverly, who was seated in 23C.”

According to the officer, the flight crew separated Chalmers from the woman and asked her what had happened and she replied: “He peed on me!”

“I then asked Chalmers “What did you do?” and he replied, “I peed on her, I thought I was going to the bathroom.”

Beverly told the officer she awoke when she felt something warm on her right upper arm area, the side of her abdomen and hip area and saw Chalmers standing next to her with his penis exposed.

When the officer spoke with Chalmers again, he denied any wrongdoing and said: “I’m a pastor, that is out of my character and I didn’t do it”.

Chalmers was taken into custody when the plane landed and escorted off the aircraft.

The officer said Chalmers threatened to sue Delta airlines as he walked past the pilot.

Pastors from a Raleigh-Durham church told The Charlotte Observer that Chalmers, who worked at the church, had expressed “horror and grief” when confronted about the incident.

Chalmers then resigned from his non-pastoral role at the church, and the pastors confirmed that their church, Catch the Fire Raleigh-Durham has no association with the church Chalmers leads with his wife, Love Wins Ministries.

A spokesperson from Delta Airlines told Travel Weekly she could confirm that law enforcement met the flight in question when it landed due to an unruly customer.
