Air New Zealand’s commercial and customer chief to depart

Air New Zealand has announced that chief commercial and customer officer Cam Wallace has resigned from the airline.

Wallace will step away from Air New Zealand full time on 30 September and will provide consultancy support to CEO Greg Foran until the end of 2020.

He has been with New Zealand’s national carrier for 19 years and has held a variety of senior and executive roles during this time.

“Cam has made an outstanding contribution to the airline and I thank him on behalf of all Air New Zealanders for that,” Foran said.

“Under Cam’s leadership, Air New Zealand’s passenger, cargo and loyalty revenues has experienced unparalleled growth over the past six years.

“He has been instrumental in developing new market opportunities, growing strategic alliance partnerships, expanding the loyalty footprint, and driving profitable growth throughout the airline’s business.”

Air New Zealand noted it will not be moving immediately to replace Wallace’s role, with Foran to take responsibility for leading the airline’s commercial and customer functions.

Wallace’s resignation comes not long after Air New Zealand swung to a $416 million full-year loss.

In April, the carrier hired Joe McCollum as its new chief people officer, as well as welcoming a couple of new board directors.
