Woman dies after falling from balcony at Sydney hotel

A woman has died after falling from a hotel balcony in Sydney’s CBD over the weekend.

According to a police statement, Emergency services were called to Hyatt Regency Sydney just after 8pm on Friday night, following reports a woman had fallen from a tenth-floor balcony.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and found the body of a woman on a level-one rooftop.

She was declared deceased and is yet to be formally identified. However, the woman was believed to be 45 years of age.

A crime scene has been established, which continues to be forensically examined.

A 48-year-old man known to the woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Day Street Police Station. He has since been released pending further investigation.

Detectives have established Strike Force Cumulus to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and are appealing for anyone with information or who was in the area at the time to come forward.
