New York, August 3, 2017: Avis rental car branch in Manhattan.

Car rental company Avis Australia has announced the 2019 finalists for its Travel Agent Scholarship program.

The judging panel, made up of travel industry leaders, has identified the top five applicants from across Australia and New Zealand.

The 2019 Avis Scholarship finalists are Natalie Morgan (Phil Hoffman Travel, South Australia), Jen Lloyd (Savenio, Queensland), Ben Ogden (CWT, New South Wales), Melanie Whyte (TravelManagers, Tasmania) and Charlotte Chalman (House of Travel, New Zealand).

Established in 1996, the Avis Travel Agent Scholarship aims to encourage, recognise and reward outstanding customer service.

Now in its 23rd year, the program has evolved into one of the most valuable and prestigious awards offered to Australian and New Zealand travel professionals.

The winner of the sought-after scholarship receives prizes valued at $35,000, with one of the highlights being two Qantas business-class tickets to an industry conference of the winner’s choice within the Asia-Pacific region.

They will also receive professional coaching and profiling for one year from Right Path, industry training opportunities and Cruise36o Australasia tickets, courtesy of Cruise Lines International Association Australasia.

Finalists will travel to Sydney to present to the judging panel before the winner is announced at the awards gala dinner on Wednesday 13 November.

Tom Mooney, managing director for the Pacific region at Avis, said: “The 2019 finalists for the Avis Scholarship showcase those who are continually raising the bar for excellent customer service across the travel industry.

“This year’s focus on sustainability has elevated the range and quality of applications received even further.

“We are excited to see the continued enthusiasm and high calibre of applicants for this year’s program and look forward to finding out the winner at the awards gala dinner.”
