Avis launches ‘Art of Discovery’ campaign to inspire travellers across Australia and NZ

Car rental company Avis is collaborating with selected Australian and New Zealand artists to inspire travellers to embark on road trips and discover new destinations.

Focused on inspiring customer journeys through a driver’s impression, the ‘Art of Discovery’ campaign sees contemporary artists set out on road trips in Avis rental cars across Australia and New Zealand in pursuit of inspiration.

The driver’s impressions will feature in an outdoor advertising campaign across the region, with the work of six artists initially on show.

After receiving the keys to an Avis rental car, the six artists embarked on a road trip to their chosen destination in pursuit of inspiration for their artwork.

Contemporary artist Jacob Spokes journeyed to Lightning Ridge in north-western New South Wales, where he retraced his father’s footsteps as a miner; while Rachel Hirabayashi drove through Canterbury, New Zealand using solitude and the landscape as her inspiration.

Tom Mooney, managing director at Avis Budget Group for the Pacific region, said: “By providing a fresh perspective on iconic Australian and New Zealand journeys, we’re aiming to inspire customers to appreciate the journey as much as the destination.

“We look forward to working with more artists over the course of the next year to show the true beauty of the Australian and New Zealand landscape.”
