Scientists find USB with holiday photos inside frozen seal poo
The group of New Zealand scientists are on the hunt for the rightful owner of a USB containing holiday pics that they found inside some frozen seal faeces.
According to a post yesterday on the website of NZ’s National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, the poo has been sitting in a freezer since being collected in November 2017 as part of research in to leopard seals.
However, when the poo was removed from the freezer three weeks ago by two volunteers, a USB was found concealed inside and in “reasonably good condition”.
The memory stick was found to contain photos of sealions at Porpoise Bay in the Caitlins, and a video of a mum and baby sealion frolicking in the shallows. The only clue to who might have taken them is the nose of a blue kayak.
The NIWA has shared the video out on social media in the hope that someone will come forward and claim the USB.
However, the institute warned in the post that claiming the memory stick comes with a price.
“The leopard seal researchers would like some more leopard seal scat please,” it said.
