Midweek Interview with Bloomfield Bali’s Sally Bloomfield

We sat down with the former Real Housewives of Melbourne star-turned-hotelier to find out what she had for breakfast. Oh and a few other things…

The challenge for the industry is…

In Bali, I feel the challenge is competing with so many other hotels on offer so you need to stand out and offer a great rate with a fabulous experience.

The things I like about my job…

I love creating a property from scratch and watching people enjoy what you have built. I also love the freedom of being able to travel back and forth from Australia to Bali on a regular basis.

And the frustrations are …

Not being here all the time to oversee things and interact with the guests although I have a great team here who know what I like and don’t like and I feel the place is in very good hands when I can’t be here.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

Doing something creative!

Favourite airline?

Emirates business class!

My proudest moment was…

Completing my hotel after my husband passed away, it was our dream to open the hotel here…

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

Mmmmm to many naughty things to list one…

I try to relax by…

Having plenty of messages when I am in Bali and spending lots of time near or in the water…

The last time I feared for my life was…

Riding on the back of a motorbike anywhere in Bali!!!!

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Hot spicy food!!!

I really wish I had…

I never regret anything…

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

If it’s for you, it won’t go by you.

I don’t understand why people…

Live to work, I always work to live!

My greatest weakness is…

French cheese and my children

And my greatest strength is…

My positive outlook on life and my children.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Open another hotel in Bali.

If I was prime minister I would…

Re-write a lot of stupid laws.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…

Singer for sure!! My kids say I couldn’t carry a tune if it had handles!!!

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

India, Spain, Croatia….

My favourite holiday was…

My last European trip with my girlfriend, we totally indulged and did everything we wanted without guilt!!
