The off-the-grid cabins every city-slicker is dying to book

The off-the-grid cabins every city-slicker is dying to book

Ditch the commitments, heed the call of the wild, and cure your nature deficient disorder with Unyoked.

Rooted in the counterculture and free-spiritedness in places like 1970’s Yosemite and Byron Bay in the ‘80s, Unyoked is a series of eco-friendly private cabins created to help everyone disconnect from city-life, throw off the yoke of nine-to-five expectations, and raise awareness of the benefits of nature and getting outdoors.

With six locations so far across rural New South Wales and Victoria, Unyoked cabins are the perfect antidote to the epidemic of busyness, connectivity and addiction to shiny screens.

These minimally built and designed, mobile, off-the-grid cabins, partner with private landowners to turn previously inaccessible or under-utilised land into a revenue-generating opportunity by making unique wilderness locations accessible to city slickers wanting to tap into their inner Bear Grylls.

Unyoked cabins are located no more than two hours from capital cities and provide the right amount of comfort to convert the most notorious anti-camper into big fans of cabin porn and the great outdoors. Georgia_Gold_Unyoked_19.09.20183349

Each Unyoked cabin has a hot shower, composting toilet, gas stove, a queen and king single bed, solar power, bar fridge, utensils and plates, yet manage to retain their Attenborough-level back-to-nature authenticity.

Unyoked is the brainchild of twins Chris and Cam Grant, both of whom worked in the city but lived for the outdoors anticipating that one big annual trip disappearing to the wilderness, device-free, to disconnect.

The Grants conceived an idea that centred on community building, sustainable tourism and making the outdoors enjoyable to a broader audience.

From developing exclusive camp-cocktails with Archie Rose to creating unique, slow-focused, campfire provisions with renowned outdoor chef Sarah Glover, these creative gents have made meandering adventures in the wilderness the best prescription to overcome the daily grind of the big smoke.Unyoked x Sarah Glover_by_Luisa Brimble-1845

Since officially launching in early 2017, the six cabins — three in Sydney and three in Melbourne have all achieved 95 per cent occupancy rates 6-7 nights a week.

Many Unyoked guests book for repeat stays, and there is a current waitlist of over 4,000 people wanting to book the experience.

The partnering landowners love it too, with over 500 landowners applying to be hosts thus cementing Unyoked’s expansion plans in 2019 that will augment the network’s unique locations throughout Australia.
