Here’s how to help your clients get compensation for flight disruptions

All agents know that sinking feeling when your client has been affected by flight delays.

What if we told you that there were laws to protect those clients that entitled them to compensation?

In fact, it’s estimated that air passengers could be entitled to over $18 billion annually in compensation.

But how do they access those sweet compensatory dollars?

tenor

Enter AirHelp, the world’s leading flight disruption compensation company and your ticket to some major brownie points with your clients.

AirHelp offers a new service to agents to assist air passengers with compensation claims and earn a commission in the process.

The company estimates that in 2017 alone, around 13 million passengers around the world were eligible for flight disruption compensation.

Flight disruption compensation has strict legal regulations especially in the European Union (EU).

According to EU Air Passenger Rights Law regulation EC 261, travellers may be eligible to up to €600 (A$960) in compensation following a delayed or cancelled flight, after being denied boarding or because of missing a flight connection.

A majority of travellers are unaware of their eligibility for compensation, leaving millions of dollars unclaimed.

“Every year, globally around 18 per cent of all flights are disrupted and air passengers may be eligible for compensation which they can claim up to three years later,” Henrik Zillmer, CEO AirHelp said.

AirHelp has assisted over 7 million travellers process compensation.

“Based on our market research most Australian travel industry players have also been unaware of air traveller compensation regulations and entitlements for their customers.

“We are inviting Australian travel industry partners to inform travellers about air travel compensation entitlements and help them claim back the compensation that is rightfully theirs while growing their business”

For delayed or cancelled flights and denied boarding, passengers may be entitled to financial compensation of up to €600 per person. This applies to flights:

  1. departing from European Union countries (all airlines)
  2. arriving in EU, on an EU based carrier.
  3. compensation may be claimed within three years of the disrupted flight.

The reason for the flight delay must be within the airline’s control, meaning disruptions due to weather, air traffic control restrictions etc are not eligible for the compensation.

Travel suppliers can partner with AirHelp to assist their customers to process the flight disruption claims. The process is quick and easy to set up and does not require any investment. Partners will earn a commission out of the successful claims and provide a value-add service to their travellers.
