RESEARCH: Here’s what Aussie travellers value the most

New research commissioned by Airbnb has revealed that an overwhelming 97 per cent of travellers said that amenities impacted their travel experience.

And while accommodations have the highest impact on holiday quality, amenities come in a very close second for Australian travellers.

Turns out we’re not alone in saying that a comfy bed and functioning hair dryer can make or break a holiday.

As for the most important traits travellers look for in an amenity? The majority of Australians (57 per cent) rate functionality first, like having a coffee maker or a full set of wine glasses and thoughtfulness second, like a bottle of wine, a bicycle to get around town, or a beach bag already packed with everything needed for a day in the sun.

Which sounds about right, considering no holiday is complete without a little wine and a lot of coffee. Or vice versa.

Surprisingly, modern holidaymakers value comfort over connectivity, with 46 per cent of Australians surveyed citing air conditioning as one of the most important indoor amenities over internet/wifi and full kitchens.

Australians also value high-quality linens and towels (56 per cent) as well as thoughtful touches (51 per cent).

And while practical things like kitchens and washers rank highly among both Australians and global travellers, according to the survey, nothing beats that Instagrammable pool! In fact, more than half of Australians (51 per cent) surveyed admit they consider how their holiday will look on social media when booking their holiday accommodations.

Here’s the 10 most searched for amenities by guests from around the world on Airbnb.
