Watch: Part of plane window falls out amid turbulence

Just days after a woman was killed from being partially sucked out of a broken plane window, passengers on another flight were shocked by part of a window panel falling out during turbulence.

Footage has emerged of a flight attendant on an Air India flight struggling to push an internal layer of a plane window back into place during a flight between Amritsar and Delhi last week.

The flight attendant can also be seen reassuring a distressed passenger who was seated next to the window.

According to the ABC, the plane experienced 10 minutes of violent turbulence before the panel fell out, injuring three passengers who were taken to hospital upon arrival in Delhi.

One passenger needed stitches on their head and the other two were reportedly treated for minor injuries.

“This was a freak high-level turbulence. AI and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is probing it,” a senior Air India official said, according to the ABC.

One week ago, a Southwest Airlines flight wasn’t so lucky, after a freak engine explosion smashed a window mid-flight partially sucking female passenger, Jennifer Riordan, out of the plane.

The victim later died in hospital of her injuries.

It was the first passenger fatality on a US airline since 2009.
