The ten tips for sealing the deal agents need to know

Two people shaking hands on business event.

We chatted with Mobile Travel Agent(MTA), Ally Kilpin to get her top tips for success.

Kilpin has been in the travel industry since 1981 and was one of the first agents to join MTA in 2000.

1. Always take a potential client’s business card so that you are in control of the correspondence.

2. Subtly sell the benefits of your experience, availability and the support that you offer compared to your biggest competitor – online bookings.

Ensure that you back this up with delivering a superior product as this also justifies fees that need to be charged.

3. By being well connected with suppliers and wholesalers throughout the world you have the knowledge to create something special that makes your service unique to your clients.

4. When it comes to problem-solving, make sure “it’s never too hard”, don’t take “no” for an answer and pursue every avenue.

You will be surprised, the time it takes will be worthwhile in the long run.

5. Be very careful with everything.

Pay attention to detail because mistakes cost money, lose clients and waste your valuable time to fix.

6. Within reason, always be enthusiastic on a 24/7 basis with all your clients’ enquiries.

Because you don’t know what might be around the corner.

7. Your clients and their referrals are your most valuable tool to grow your business.

8. Run a set of management accounts so that you know how your business is performing at any time.

9. Be disciplined when working from home. If you’re not prepared to put in 100% eff ort and commitment you will let yourself and everybody else down.

10. And remember, you can’t find passion on the internet!
