Luxury space hotels could be a reality much sooner than we thought
Another space hotel is billed to launch in 2021 and we’re getting jittery with excitement.
It looks like we’ll be able to live out our childhood Jetson’s fantasies much sooner than anticipated with Orion Span Inc announcing the “first luxury hotel in space”, reports Skift.
Orion Span aims to launch the modular station, which would orbit 200 miles above the earth, and welcome guests the following year.

Guests will be able to see 384 sunrises and sunsets on the 12-day journey around the planet.
“We want to get people into space because it’s the final frontier for our civilization,” Orion Span’s founder and chief executive officer, Frank Bunger told Skift.
“We’re not selling a hey-let’s-go-to-the-beach equivalent in space,”
“We’re selling the experience of being an astronaut.”
“You reckon that there are people who are willing to pay to have that experience.”
Well, probably, yes.
But not everyone will be able to, with the 12-day journey starting at $9.5 million US (about $12.5 million AUD).
The company began accepting $80,000 deposits last week.
According to Science Alert, the hotel will accommodate up to four travellers and two crew members at a time in a 35-by-40-foot space.
There is no word yet as to whether the hotel will have a tiny infinity pool or a bar but we have our fingers crossed.
