Are travel designers the new agents?
It’s no secret that crafting the perfect holiday can be a lot of work.
If you’re doing it on your own, you could see yourself spending hours searching through cryptic hotel reviews, trying to get the perfectly priced flight on the right date, or spend hours on google maps making sure your hotel is close enough to cafes to maintain your caffeine addiction.
Traditionally, travellers turn to travel agents to fix that problem, but the New York Post reports that you can now go one better by hiring a travel designer.

Travel designers function much like travel agents, but with a much sharper focus on personal tastes to craft a unique experience.
Hang on, isn’t that what most travel agents do?
“A travel designer has the time to get to know you as a person,” Marie Sulda, founder of Kaleidoscope Travel, told the New York Post.
“While they can sell you a package holiday, they may find something for the same price that suits you better.”
“It’s about building a relationship with you and understanding your preferences for future trips, rather than taking an order and processing it.”
Most travel designers are often extensively travelled themselves and use their years of experience to give a personal touch to travellers experiences.
Sulda told the New York Post that travel designers aren’t always more expensive than agents and often work outside of office hours on weekends and evenings.
“Most people in this day and age are time poor and have exhaustion from searching online for hours and hours at a time,” she said.
“Having someone to be able to cut through all of the online noise and provide you with curated options that suit your preferences and budget is why a travel designer is so valuable.”
