The app changing the Airport game

The app changing the Airport game

Picture this. You’re breezing your way to the airport check-in, a full two and a half hours before your flight leaves. Easy, right?

Wrong. Because at this airport, waiting times are off the charts, and after waiting two hours to go through security, you miss your plane.

Okay, you probably would’ve gotten rushed through security by security. But what if there was an app that could save you all this trouble? Surprise! There is.

Well, only at select US airports – but that means its only a matter of time before they expand down under.

TripIt is a revolutionary trip-organising app, and has just introduced a new feature that can tell you how long the waits are at airport security in some US airports.

The catch? The feature is only available on TripIt Pro, which is US $49 for a yearly subscription.

Once you’re subscribed, the app will send you an alert three hours before your flight is scheduled to depart, letting you know what you’re in for in terms of security wait times. It also monitors security checkpoint lines to “let users know how long the wait is near their gate,” according to Lonely Planet.

You can keep checking back once you’re on your way to the airport for real-time updates – which let you know how panicked you should be if you’re late.

Plus, the app also has a built-in map of whichever airport you’re travelling to, with the nearest checkpoint and fastest security line just a touch away.

So far, the feature is only available at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Denver International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport – but we’re betting a whole lotta people want it at their closest airport too.
