Virgin flights to LA now have free Wi-Fi

The future is here, people! The moment we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived – in-flight Wi-Fi!

Virgin Australia has just launched free in-flight Internet on selected flights to Los Angeles – with the passengers on yesterdays VA23 flight from Melbourne being the first to test what it’s like to be able to be social media savvy from the air.

According to the Australian Business Traveller, there was a promo code sent to the video screens on the back of each seat – allowing them to experience the futuristic technology of in-flight Wi-Fi.

Virgin Australia has just started updating all it’s Boeing 777-300ER jets with satellite WiFi – and the first Wi-Fi Boeing will be shared between the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane routes to LA and back, with a second Boeing joining the prestigious Wi-Fi ranks before the end of December. So really, really soon.

The company said that all five of their Boeing 777s to be upgraded by May 2018 (so there’s definitely something to look forward to).

However the Internet will only remain free for the public ‘beta test’ of the system – after that you’ll have to pay to ‘gram and fly at the same time.

But the full price won’t kick in until all five air crafts have been upgraded in 2018 – so book some Virgin Australia flights ASAP for free (or at least cheaper than full price) in-flight Wi-Fi!

Early next year, in-flight Wi-Fi will be available on Virgin’s Boeing 737 flights to New Zealand, Fiji and Bali – with the Wi-Fi prices set to be based on how long the flight.

Watch this space, folks.
