Insight Vacations CEO John Boulding retires

Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold has announced that its much-valued CEO, John Boulding, will be retiring from his position and will leave The Travel Corporation later this year.

Boulding will remain with Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold to assist with the transition to the new CEO, Ulla Hefel Bohler, who was appointed earlier today.

Boulding has worked in the TTC’s executive family and related brands for 33 years, playing a major role in Insight’s success over the years.

Brett Tollman, TTC’s Global CEO, commented, “John’s hard work, commitment, and dedication are worthy of admiration and he will be greatly missed by us all.

“We sincerely thank John for his outstanding contribution and wish him and his family very well for the future.”

Having worked closely with Hefel Bohler for the past decade, Tollman added, “She has been brilliant in enhancing and improving the guests’ experience and service in her prior role.

“Our guided holiday and escorted touring delivery and guest ratings have increased significantly under Ulla’s operational direction and we are confident this same commitment will greatly benefit the Insight group.”

In a previous chat to Travel Weekly, Boulding had said no travel product can prosper if you just keep making minor adjustments rather than major innovations, likening the process to painting a house.

“Quality and value are two words we need to apply to products,” Boulding told Travel Weekly.

“You’ve got to go back to bare wood, apply a primer and give it a fresh coat of paint.”

When it comes to travel, Boulding added, “Why not do it the same if not better than at home,” particularly as Aussies are already used to a high standard of living.

“Luxury is very attainable now.”

No word on what’s next on the horizon for Boulding at the moment.
