Outrigger Global roadshow hits Australia

Outrigger executives visited Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney to meet industry partners and chat about the company’s next phase of growth.

Outrigger reps from Hawaii, Mauritius, the Maldives, Fiji and Thailand joined with their Australian counterparts for the Outrigger Resorts Global Showcase last week.

Leading the 21-strong delegation which visited Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne was Chief Operating Officer Paul Richardson, Vice President Sales and Marketing for Asia Pacific Mark Simmons, Vice President Corporate Communications Monica Salter and Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for Australia and New Zealand, Andrew Gee.

Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Sean Dee also joined the showcase in Sydney. As well as Outrigger Resorts, the Outrigger-managed OHANA Hotels, Embassy Suites, Condos and Holiday Inn brands in Hawaii were represented.

Guests included key wholesalers and product managers, specialist travel agents, PCO’s, tourism industry partners, airline representatives and travel media. Outrigger Resorts communicated with almost 400 travel industry professionals during the week-long road show.

The 2017 event launched in Brisbane at Blackbird, Eagle Street Pier followed by events at Rivers Edge Function Centre at the World Trade Centre in Melbourne and Establishment 1 & 3, George Street Sydney.

In his welcome address at the events, Paul Richardson flagged the likely re-entry of Outrigger into Australia as part of a broad global expansion under new owners KSL Capital Partners. He said Australia was at the top of KSL’s list of destinations in which it was seeking management contracts or asset purchases for future operating capacity.

“We hope to be back here one day soon,” said Richardson. “Given Australia’s stability and what we have to offer we can come back here in an equity position.

“It could happen anytime over the next ten years.”

He also said that beyond Australia, KSL had plans to boost its profile to Southern Florida, Southern California, Mexico and Hawaii.

“Although we have some wonderful properties it’s the personal interaction that makes us different,” he added.

“We’re working hard to make sure dreams are realised and you’ve got even more to sell.”
