Midweek Interview with The Tank Stream Hotel’s Nigel Myers

Nigel Myers is the Business Development Manager at Sydney’s newest international hotel, The Tank Stream Hotel.

The challenge for the industry is…
The impact of social media – it has its strengths and weaknesses.

The things I like about my job…
Being the newest international hotel in Sydney and having such a connection to the city’s history makes the Tank Stream a great hotel to sell.

And the frustrations are…
the hotel was created out of an existing building, so not everyone noticed its opening. We’re going to change that!

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…
musician.

Favourite airline?
Singapore Airlines.

My proudest moment was…
Saving a person’s life.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…
Eating that extra biscuit.

I try to relax by…
Creating music.

The last time I feared for my life was…
At a theme park.

If I can, I always try to avoid…
Broccoli and brussel sprouts

I really wish I had…
A time machine: would be fascinating to see what the Tank Stream and Sydney looked like in 1788.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…
Never underestimate yourself and what you can do.

I don’t understand why people…
Can be so mean (you have to say that with Kamahl’s accent).

My greatest weakness is…
Talking too much.

And my greatest strength is…
Patience and resilience.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…
Set up a music station where I would be chief programmer and DJ.

If I was prime minister I would…
Not just talk about the potential of the tourism industry, but actually strengthen it through investment and promotion.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…
Player for Richmond FC.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…
The Northern Lights.

My favourite holiday was…
Bora Bora.
