Norwegian lines up four new ships

Norwegian Cruise Line Corporation will be cracking champers in the office today after it signed an agreement with shipbuilders to build four snazzy new ships by 2025.

Per Travel Market Report, the ships will be delivered each year from 2022 to 2025, with an option for two new ships to be delivered in 2026 and 2027.

All four ships will be able to hold a hefty 3,300 guests and will build on its Breakaway-plus class that includes its latest ship, Norwegian Escape, as well as incoming ships, Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Bliss.

Per TMR, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Andy Stuart said that by bringing four brand new ships onto the market, the cruise line hopes to “offer guests the innovative experiences that have come to define the Norwegian Cruise Line brand.”.

While we’re all still a little in the dark about the details of the new ships, as a point of comparison, Norwegian’s Breakaway-Plus class includes features like 12 pools and hot tubs, a “Snow Room” that fills with four inches of snow and a three-story rope course, as well as the first-at-sea Margaritaville restaurant.

Norwegian also reportedly teased media with the news that the new ships will also “feature a host of innovative designs that will further elevate its already award-winning guest experience”. How exciting.

The new order means Norwegian will debut seven ships in the next eight years. The next one, the 3,850-passenger Norwegian Joy, will debut this year as the first Norwegian ship built specifically for the Chinese market.

She will homeport in Shanghai and Beijing.
