It’s the Midweek Interview with HKTB’s Andrew Clark

In this week’s Midweek Interview we shine the interrogation lamp on Andrew Clark, Regional Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, but in a nice way, we promise.

The challenge for the industry is… Embrace the opportunities of new technology, and continually strive to improve customer service.

The things I like about my job… My colleagues, & working across all sectors of our industry

And the frustrations are … Not everything can happen now.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… Hmm, struggling here; maybe in sports marketing.

Favourite airline? I think I’ll keep that to myself, but we have great airlines travelling to HKG!

My proudest moment was… The birth of my son.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… Again, I’ll keep that too myself; suffice to say that Australia is my 4th country that I’ve lived in….

I try to relax by… By spending time with family & friends, & watching football(round ball variety)

If I can, I always try to avoid… Broccoli.

I really wish I had… Been a very good footballer

The best advice I’ve ever received was… From a school master: “perseverance”; 2) my Mum:”better to try & fail, than not try at all”.

I don’t understand why people… See the glass as half empty, rather than half full.

My greatest weakness is… Impatience.. and intolerance; oh, and….

And my greatest strength is… Very boring, I know, but reliability

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… Give it all to my wife..(haha)

If I was prime minister I would… Make the environment our No 1 priority & recognise the need to fasttrack to               renewable energy sources.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a… A dictator, & immediately impose above environmental policy; and end the “nanny state” regulations, and…

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Chicago, for the music.

My favourite holiday was… Petritoli in Le Marche, Italy, with 12 – 14 friends.
