Rail Europe and Rail Plus become one
Rail Europe announced today it will fully integrate the wholly-owned subsidiary Rail Plus into its global network.
This means, in Australia and New Zealand, Rail Europe will be trading as Rail Plus, resulting in the closure of Rail Europe’s current Sydney office as the company consolidates its Australian operations in Melbourne.
Rail Europe Manager, Australasia, Ingrid Kocijan, will relocate to Melbourne to take up the newly-created position of Commercial Director, reporting directly to Rail Europe Global Chief Executive Fabrice Morel.
In her new role, Kocijan will be responsible for sales development and support across Oceania, working closely with all trade partners, including Australasia’s major retail groups and Rail Europe’s valued GSAs – Rail Tickets, Infinity Rail, CIT and Go Holidays.
Morel paid tribute to Rail Plus Chief Executive James Dunne, who as a result of the restructure will depart the organization effective 30 September 2016.
“On behalf of the Rail Plus Board I would like to thank James for his outstanding service over the past two and a half years, during which time he has successfully transformed Rail Plus in a challenging business environment. We wish him well as he moves on to new endeavours,” Morel said.
Consolidation will also precipitate a change on the Rail Plus Board, with Director Joe Fekete stepping down.
“Joe has served on the Rail Plus Board for more than five years and during that time his dedication, vision and insight have contributed enormously to the company’s ongoing success.”
Fekete will be replaced on the Board by the company’s Chief Financial Officer Lachlan McCallum.
Morel says the integration of Rail Plus into Rail Europe’s global network will deliver a more efficient operation, better positioned than ever before to meet the needs of travel agents and all trade partners across Australia and New Zealand.
“Integration will ensure that our team in Australasia receives the full backing of the worldwide Rail Europe group, and its European railway shareholders.”
