Webjet is at it again, slamming travel agents in another TVC, and this time the travel agents of Australia are coming out swinging even harder.

While the industry has thrown support behind the travel agents of Australia and expressed disgust with the agent shaming ads, it seems Webjet has not changed its direction in advertising drive.

The first TVC appear back in January, where it was clear Webjet’s TV commercial was out to get bricks and mortar travel agents by persuading consumers that booking online is better.

While AFTA heavily promotes ‘without an agent you are on your own’, its seems Webjet is keen to send travellers off ‘on their own’.

Travel agents are fighting back however, fighting online with an online voice. The most recent is a Facebook Page called Hey Webjet, Here’s the reasons why people choose travel agents over you    – https://www.facebook.com/operationtravelagentfightback/

It is the start of the rolling support from the launch of #operationtravelagentfightback and is gaining momentum daily.

Agents are giving facts and examples of just how Travel Agents are valued, not only when it comes to the bottom dollar, but also the service that was received while travellers were stuck overseas or needed assistance with further travel arrangements.

The page encourages people to get behind them and also share your experiences, agents or travellers.

“Hey everyone! Are you tired of shouting at the tv everytime a webjet ad comes on.. us too!
Its time for travel agents to unite and fight back! Post your best webjet blunders on this page and we will share them with the world. ‪#‎operationtravelagentfightback

Glenn Box from NSW posts on the page:

“How about the majority of retail agencies that can budget for it team up with AFTA and promote further the ATAS accreditation and the benefits of a complete travel booking experience with a reliable back up and support system in place. I have my $500.00 ready and waiting.”

Another agent posted:

“No Webjet, you are not better or cheaper or even able to offer more variety than a real life travel agent! To anyone that falls for their ridiculous advertising stating this untruth, you are ripping yourselves off! This is a quote I have just done.. Webjet on the top, mine on the bottom – a saving for a family of 4 of $9262.94! And I’m not even using low cost carriers as their option did.”

    1. webjet make some very dodgy claims(actually they are complete lies). They don’t offer all options. None of the options we sell, can even be found on webjet.
