What it’s like to stay at Chiva Som

Natural crystal healing, hydrotherapy and aromatherapy ‘mood mists’ may not be the first to come to mind for a health overhaul, but they’re on the menu for a natural renewal wellness retreat on the Gulf of Thailand.

The thirteen retreat options will restore and revitalise the body, so whether you’re focussing on Optimal Performance and Fitness, Spa Wellbeing and relaxation, finding the Art of Detoxing or wanting a complete Natural Renewal, Chiva Som is a haven on earth to help you find an inner oasis.

The enchanting, natural surrounds of Chiva Som create the perfect atmosphere to embark on a journey of health and holistically transform your mind, body and spirit from the moment you enter the retreat.

After a personal wellness consultation you can begin your health overhaul with a day of fitness, and an afternoon at the spa with a Papaya Body Wrap or Oxygen Facial to invigorate the senses.

It goes beyond relaxation though. There are cell vitality retreats for patients in remission from cancer, as well as cranial relief retreats for migraine sufferers.

Finish the day by indulging in delicately marinated Sea Bass with spicy mango relish and freshly made black sticky rice for dessert. Each day of rejuvenation includes three wellness meals to heal the body from inside out, with a choice of eating in the elegant Emerald Room or overlooking the calming waters in Taste of Siam.

A complete transformation doesn’t stop at exercise and food, though. Sleep soundly in the luxurious suites that strike the perfect balance between simple Thai beauty and Western standards (butler service included). The on-site library is a retreat in itself. It’s the perfect spot to curl up with a good book and float off to another world – yoga may be good for the body but there’s nothing like a good book to cure the soul.

Body, mind and spirit will be empowered by the ultimate luxurious escape, bringing harmony to your sense of self so everyday can be a retreat.

Award winning architect Ed Tuttle has recently redesigned the ocean rooms and the emphasis is on unity with nature. This is a key element within the Chiva-Som philosophy of holistic wellbeing that will enhance the ‘home-away from-home’ comfort with an understated elegant blend of traditional and modern that makes an ideal environment to complement the menus of restorative treatments.
