Singapore A380 set to return

Singapore Airlines’ A380 will once again be seen over Melbourne as the airline adds additional capacity over the year-end holiday season.

From 30 October 2016 through to 25 March 2017, the SQ A380 will operate daily flights on SQ217/218 offering greater capacity in all cabins including Premium Economy to the Victorian market.

On Sunday 30 October flights SQ217/218 will return to being operated by a 379 seat A380 offering 12 Suites, an all upper deck Business Class cabin of 86 seats, 36 Premium Economy seats and a 245 seat main deck Economy Class cabin. Between 1 December 2016 and 15 January 2017, the 441 seat A380 will be deployed to offer more Economy Class seats for the holiday season.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President Mr Tan Tiow Kor, welcomed the A380’s planned return to Melbourne.

“We have seen continued growth in our Victorian market in recent times and to ensure we are meeting the expectation of our customers and the demand of the market we have decided to return the A380,” Tan said.

“The reintroduction of the A380 from late October will deliver an overall capacity increase of 5% to Melbourne, including the Premium Economy product on a daily basis, as well as greater Singapore Airlines Suites and Business Class capacity.

“The redeployment of the A380 will come after the regional debut of Singapore Airlines’ new Airbus A350 on SQ207/208 between 1 September and 22 October featuring our next generation cabin products.

“Ensuring we are providing greater opportunities for Victorians to travel to Singapore and beyond on a range of premium cabin options reinforces our commitment to the Victorian market.”
