Welcome to the world of small ship cruising
It’s like spending a week on a friend’s private luxury yacht.
Windstar’s six graceful yachts welcome fewer than 300 lucky guests, which means no crowds, no lines, no waiting. Imagine small, handcrafted shore excursions that take you closer and show you more. Imagine legendary service that has been acclaimed the best on the seas. Imagine a voyage that is all about you.
The small ship world of Windstar is one of a kind. But we will stop blabbering on now and let Jim Petritsis, Sharon Hando & Rachel Javier tell you about their Windstar experiences.
And really, the words speak for themselves.
“Amazing experience which left me in awe”

The boarding process in Civitavecchia Rome was our first introductory to Wind Surf and what a difference to anything else I had experienced. After Windstar Staff quickly viewed our documents the ground crew kindly relieved us of our luggage and we were asked to embark. Don’t worry it does not end there, we board and are escorted to the gorgeous theatre where guests complete the embarkation process in the comforts of the Surf’s lounge, of course accompanied with a glass of champagne, once we were ready staff assisted us to our stateroom. What a welcome, I felt like I had found my new home albeit only for the next seven nights.
The emotional attachment I have for the Surf will remain forever, which I believe is attributed to many factors. None more powerful than the five masts supporting the beauty sails overhead. This emotional connection ever so present leaving each port with the hallowing tune of 1494 Conquest of Paradise, performed by Vangelis billowing out and loud enough for the natives to notice. This in itself a celebration which being our very first cruise in Europe together was something special.
Looking back at my cruise on Windstar I wonder, what made it so memorable! I think back and recall waking to enjoy a cooked to order breakfast out on deck with the sun and sails overhead and Dubrovnik in the foreground and not in the distance as with most. Enjoying a swim right off the back of the Surf’s water sports mariner where for a moment I felt like, it was all mine. I was engulfed by the causal yet elegant setting at every turn, the personal touch provided by the crew who new me by first name and new my morning and evening drinks without question to the culinary experience all aligned for that Windstar private yacht like experience. It definitely evoked the spirit of what small ship cruising should ‘feel like’, Windstar brings a formula or better yet ‘moments’ which all come together and makes for a magical cruise. Love it.

For me it was a no brainer – getting married and needed an honeymoon idea – WINDSTAR !!!! 13 days sailing from Nice to Venice on back to back journeys onboard the Wind Surf. It was superb – the destinations were idyllic as we were able to access so many small towns that the big ships just couldn’t reach …. and without the crowds; the onboard ambiance was perfect – country club casual yet still romantic – we mixed with a small group (max of 310 guests) of like minded people as we enjoyed gourmet cuisine. It was all that I imagined it would be…and then some. My next sailing with Windstar will be to celebrate again – this time it will be with my family and friends as we ‘acknowledge’ the passing of time and come together to celebrate my 50th birthday. This time, our chosen destination will be Tahiti. Can’t wait!!!!
“What better way to celebrate my love and passion of Good Food and Wine”

What better way to celebrate my love and passion of Good Food and Wine but of course onboard Wind Surf on an 8 day / 7 Night Culinary and Wine Cruise of Spain and Morocco. Sailed between Lisbon to Barcelona and each port visited was a Culinary delight. Mouthwatering delicacies in Tangiers, to local meats and cheeses in Malaga to an abundant array of Tapas in Almeria and all paired with the finest wines of each region. Plus every evening we experienced pre dinner regional wine tasting sessions and followed up with three complimentary regional wines which were included with every dinner.
Apart from the food and wine being a daily highlight our private event in Tarragona was an afternoon to remember where we witnessed a very thrilling and impressive Castells – ‘human tower’ performance in the Roman Amphitheatre and then sample the local Sangria which again was sensational.
Where will my next Windstar Cruise take me – Monaco in May 2017 to experience the electric atmosphere of the F1 Grand Prix and Monte Carlo. We will be docked right in the harbour in the heart of all the action.
