“Unruly” passenger restrained on BA flight

An apparently intoxicated female passenger attempted to open an exit door on a Boston-bound British Airways flight, prompting people on the plane to restrain her.

There was no indication of any terrorism link in the incident, Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said.

Troopers took the woman, who is about 30, into custody after the plane landed at Boston’s Logan International Airport, authorities said on Tuesday.

“The investigation into this incident indicates this was a case of unruly behaviour, with no known connection to terrorism at this point,” said Procopio, who did not identify the woman.

Procopio said the woman was apparently intoxicated and will likely face a criminal charge of interfering with a flight crew.

Police said British Airways Flight 213 left London’s Heathrow airport on Tuesday morning and the crew asked police to meet the flight due to an unruly passenger.

An earlier state police report that the woman had attempted to open the cockpit door was inaccurate, police said.
