New travel company wants you to “travel well”

A fresh new face has emerged o n the travel scene, promising unique experiences and cutting edge tours.

A partnership between Sydneysiders Carli Ratcliff and Carol Crennan, a food, travel and lifestyle writer, and owner of Bookshop Travel, respectively, the pair say they are tapping into a gap in the market.

“We offer behind-the-scenes adventures that money almost can’t buy,” Ratcliff said at the launch recently.

“We have friends all over the globe to take travellers to farms and vineyards and restaurants – they’re the inspiration for our business.”

The boutique tour company takes Crennan’s understanding of tour operating, and Ratcliff’s obsession with bringing experiences to life – not to mention the countless travel secrets of both women – and turn them into itineraries that they hope will appeal to a wide audience.

Ratcliff said they do all of the hard work and create all-inclusive itineraries “so that you can travel well.”

Travel Well will kick off with five inaugural tours in 2016, from the slopes of Scandinavia to the olive groves of Italy, all escorted by an expert in the field.

“We work together to unlock and tailor a unique travel experience,” Ratcliff added.

The five tours include a food and wine tour through the local kitchens and markets of Italy, along with a look at the history and politics of the country with Principessa Marina Colonna, one of the world’s best olive oil makers.

Another tour takes you to Cambodia with Crennan, who says it’s “not about five star tourism”,  but rather an exploration of a country in the midst of great change, as well as an adventure through hidden Angkor temples that were among many researched for Tomb Raider.

“We’ve crafted these itineraries after many hours visiting, working and planning with experts and friends,” Ratcliff said.

“We try and find a region that is undiscovered.”
