Avalon makes a splash ahead of 2016

Avalon Waterways is making a few waves of late, spicing up the party with new ships, new itineraries and new destinations.

Avalon announced its new 2016 season of river cruises, which makes a plash with two new cruises on the rivers and canals of Belgium.

From next year, Avalon will cruise on into Belgium on the Meuse River, travelling as far as the picturesque city of Namur in the French-speaking hotspot of Wallonia.

Avalon has also announced a further two new Suite Ships to be launched in 2016, giving it a total of 12 Suite Ships in an overall European fleet of 16 modern vessels.

The new ships of Avalon Passion and Avalon Imagery II will join the modern fleet, which boasts an average age of just over three years.

Avalon Waterways’ md for Australasia Stewart Williams said Avalon revolutionised river cruising with the launch of its first Suite Ship in 2011.

“The concept has been a huge success, particularly among Australians, so we’re expanding it further and introducing new destinations in response,” he said.

The Suite Ship’s design means beds have been turned to face the views instead of the wall in front, and feature 30% more cabin space than the industry average.

To celebrate the launch of the new program, Avalon is offering earlybird discounts of up to 15% off its 2016 river cruises in France, and up to 10% off all other 2016 European river cruises, valid until June 30 2015.

Avalon’s new Belgian itineraries begin in April 2016, and include the eight-day ‘Essential Holland and Belgium’ cruise, and the nine-day ‘Enchanting Belgium’ trip.
