Qantas, Emirates celebrate two years

Brad and Angelina, Kim and Kanye, Qantas and Emirates – they’re all the stuff of lasting love.

Today, Qantas and Emirates are celebrating the second anniversary of its airline marriage, with more than two million codeshare customers travelling on both carriers since the launch.

Qantas International’s CEO Gareth Evans said the partnership has achieved a range of milestones over the course of its relationship.

“Customer satisfaction levels have reached record heights with a double digit increase in advocacy scores being received by international travellers as Qantas continues to develop its partnership strategy,” he said.

“Qantas Frequent Flyer members have flown and earned points on 1.6 million segments and have flown nearly 16 billion kilometres (9.9 billion miles) on the joint Qantas and Emirates network.

“Together we are taking more people to more places with Qantas customers now being able to access more than 70 Emirates destinations in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa and Emirates customers enjoying Qantas’ Australian domestic network of more than 50 destinations and 5,000 flights per week.

“The Emirates and Qantas frequent flyer programs also give customers expanded opportunities to earn and redeem points and reciprocal end-to-end customer recognition and benefits,” Evans added.

Emirates and Qantas

The partnership has provided an opportunity to showcase Qantas’ inflight menu, with chef Neil Perry’s meals featuring on Emirates services between Australia, Dubai and London.

Emirates’ chief commercial officer and executive VP Thierry Antinori added that together, Qantas and Emirates are connecting the world one traveller at a time.

“Through this partnership we are providing more tourism to Australia, opening up trade opportunities and flying more Australians on our extensive global network,” Antinori said.

“The partnership also provides added value to our customers, with fast one-stop connectivity via our hub in Dubai between five Australian cities and 37 European cities; as well as comprehensive stopover products for travellers wishing to experience the dynamic city of Dubai.

“In addition, customers can earn and redeem frequent flyer rewards when travelling with either Emirates or Qantas.

“From May 2015, Emirates and Qantas will be flying a total of seven daily A380 services from Dubai to Australia, offering Australian and international passengers more chances to experience our flagship aircraft.

“Together we have created the world’s most significant partnership between two airlines, allowing customers to access a world-class product and service offering, as well as a seamless customer experience, when travelling on both Emirates and Qantas.”
