Travel Counsellors start 2015 with a bang

Travel Counsellors is celebrating after achieving record sales in January.

The company hit new heights, including its highest sales day in its 20 year history, and seven out of ten of the company’s best ever sales days.

The company smashed all previous sales records on January 16, achieving a global sales total of AUD$5.4 million, beating the previous best day of AUD$4.98 million in January 2014.

Travel Counsellors also achieved a new company record by securing the top four selling days in its history in 2015 with combined sales of over AUD$20.7 million.

Aussie Travel Counsellors also celebrated some other milestones, with 10% of counsellors experiencing their best sales month ever in January, while growth continued a further 13% to hit the highest ever monthly commission total.

Specific areas of growth were in cruise sales that continued the upward trend in to 2015, with increased bookings of 36% over last year.

MD Steve Byrne said the past month has been highly successful across the board.

“Throughout what is traditionally a busy booking period for the industry we have been dedicated to supporting our agents and helping them to drive sales and reach out to their customers,” he said.

“This includes increased marketing support and a focus on the use of our own in-house dynamic packaging system, allowing them to take control of the product they sell and margin they make.

“As a result on average each Australian agent has increased their income by 10% and a record 259 Travel Counsellors had their best ever sales month in January.”

At the beginning of the month, the company also launched a major worldwide sales incentive, sponsored by Royal Caribbean, with over 1,350 Travel Counsellors participating to win a seven-night Caribbean cruise.

The ‘TC Royal Cocktails of the Caribbean’ saw 32 teams competing in the incentive, with agents winning rounds for their teams based on bookings made.

Matraville-based Travel Counsellor Carla Conroy was one of the agents marking a personal best for sales in January, having joined the company less than three years ago.

“Much of this is down to using the new Quote & Book system within our dynamic packaging system Phenix,” Conroy said.

“It really has transformed my business, allowing me to, very quickly, tailor-make for my customers whilst controlling the margin I make, helping me achieve average margin of over 16.6% so far this year.

“Customers are definitely looking positively into 2015 and planning ahead, but also want to book their holiday with an agent they can trust and who can deliver a really personal service, and that is something I build my business on.”

The company operates in the Australia, UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa, Canada and Dubai, with global sales for the financial year ending in October 2014 standing at AUD$819million, an 11% increase on the previous year.
