Travellers Choice goes back to the future

Travellers Choice goes back to the future
By admin

The Travellers Choice 2014 Annual Shareholders Meeting was held at the Gold Coast over the weekend, adopting a unique approach to Steven Spielberg’s theme-inspired classic, “Back to the Future”.

Andrew Daddo was at the helm as Master of Ceremonies, introducing the conference programme that was based around a time machine. This launched members into the future to help equip them to deliver a safe, comfortable and desirable passage to the centremost element of their universe, the customers.

The conference kicked off on Friday night at Sea World, with a progressive cocktail function that opened the opportunity to catch up with old friends and colleagues, and extend a welcome to members who are new to the group.

Travellers Choice chief executive officer, Christian Hunter, opened the conference by updating the performance results over the past year and the future initiatives for Travellers Choice. AFTA chief executive officer, Jayson Westbury delved into the many significant issues facing travel agents today, whilst updating the status and roll out of ATAS accreditation scheme and advertising plans.

Thrusting the delegates into the future was Digital Futurist, Chris Riddell with valuable insights and advice on the digital revolution and what our future travel customers may look like. Rounding this out was Customer Service Expert, Robyn Pulman, who put the focus providing delegates with an understanding of what your businesses key points of difference are to draw on and embrace to ensure you stay viable as your customers evolve.

Delegates then continued to workshop through the weekend at B2B sessions with key industry suppliers.

The main event was a ‘Night with the Stars’, as delegates walked the red carpet surrounded by lights and cameras for an evening full of glittering entertainment. Resemblant of Hollywood’s night of nights, the stars took centre stage at the awards ceremony, including presentation of the Choice Awards, Brian Pateman Agency Award for Excellence, Encouragement Award, Years of Service Pins and the Supplier of the Year.

South Australia’s Easy Travel & Cruise was named as the 2014 winner of Travellers Choice’s coveted Brian Pateman Agency Award for Excellence.

“Easy Travel & Cruise has embraced the values fundamental to Travellers Choice membership, as evidenced by the team's positive attitude and its contribution to network gatherings,” Hunter said.

Other Travellers Choice members honoured as finalists in this year’s Brian Pateman Agency Award for Excellence included Jamison Travel (NSW/ACT), Ballina Cruise & Travel (QLD / Northern NSW), Burnie Travelcentre (VIC / TAS) and Australind Travel & Cruise Centre (WA).

The 2014 Travellers Choice Gold Choice Award winners were Tania Allen, Oliver Travel (SA), Denise Falsey, Discover Travel & Cruise (QLD), Rosie Tripodi, Travel House Group (SA), Mark Brady, Ballina Cruise & Travel, (NSW), Michelle Everson, Jamison Travel (ACT), Phil Dalley, Travel Makers (ACT), Maria Slater, Maria Slater Travel (ACT), Michelle Popescu, Select World Travel (QLD), Michelle Shea, City Beach Travel & Cruise (WA) and Jim Cooper, Queanbeyan City Travel & Cruise (NSW).
