Trafalgar gets intimate with Hidden Journeys

Trafalgar will almost halve the number of guests it takes on 11 programmes in 2015 with the introduction of Hidden Journeys, the brand’s new trip style catering to a maximum of 26 guests per departure.

The tour operator has released a dedicated brochure featuring unique itineraries across 11 destinations in Europe and Ireland, Canada, Panama and Asia as part of Hidden Journeys, taking the number of its trip styles it offers to 10.

“This is not small groups for the sake of it,” Trafalgar Australia managing director, Matthew Cameron-Smith told Travel Today during an exclusive interview.

“This has been in the planning over several years”

“We wanted to get it right and include the right Insider Experiences to reflect the values of the brand.”

“Trafalgar understand the importance of choice and that one size doesn’t fit all,” Cameron-Smith said.

Unique properties that cater best to smaller groups such as high-end castles and mansions have been handpicked in the 11 destinations, 6 of which in Europe, and are showcased in the standalone Hidden Journeys brochure, as well as in each 2015 destination programme.

“From sampling wines at boutique estates to staying in distinct Ryokan accommodation, these Hidden Journeys visit amazing destinations in harder to reach places that are often best suited to smaller sized groups.

“With this in mind, we’ve designed these itineraries primarily for those guests who like to travel in a more intimate setting, whilst still enjoying the peace of mind in travelling with an expert Travel Director and discovering exclusive Insider Experiences.”

Cameron-Smith said the new trip style was to both target first time Trafalgar customers, as well as meet demand from existing guests as it has been a gap in the Trafalgar portfolio until now. Trafalgar’s current group size ranges from 42 to 44 guests.

For a limited time, travel agents can pass on savings up to 10% on Hidden Journeys with Trafalgar’s 2015 Early Payment Discounts – the only programme in the market to allow customers to book and pay regardless of when they choose to travel.

Following a record year in 2013, Cameron-Smith said the 2015 sales momentum so far has been “outstanding”, with over 70% of its summer departures now definite departures.

Trafalgar’s Hidden Journeys intimately sized journeys complete wtih exclsuive Insider Experiences is the first to be offered among the Travel Corporation international brands.
