APT and AmaWaterways have this week christened the luxury 164-passenger MS AmaSonata, the newest European river vessel.

The christening took place in Vilshofen, Germany, and was attended by AmaWaterways co-founders Rudi Schreiner and Kristin Karst, along with the line’s Canadian godmother Brenda Kyllo.

The luxury AmaSonata features spacious staterooms and suites, multiple dining venues, on-board massage and salon services, a heated pool with swim-up bar, fitness room, and complimentary bicycles.

 

Carnival Cruise Lines has announced its newest Australian ship Carnival Legend will be hosting a family game night called Hasbro, The Game Show when it debuts in Sydney in September.

Hasbro, The Game Show is the first time such an event has featured on an Australian ship, and will allow guests to play giant versions of their favourite childhood games such as Connect 4 and Operation.

 

Intrepid Travel has launched three new winter trips in Europe, giving travellers the chance to explore Christmas markets, stay at an Ice Hotel and experience the Northern Lights.

Prices start from $1245, and range from five-day tours of Romania, to six-day tours through Iceland and eight-day trips across Central Europe.

 

United Airlines today reported a 51% increase year-on-year to a net income of $919 million in second-quarter 2014.

The $2.34 per diluted share excludes $130 million of special items. Including special items, United reported a second-quarter 2014 net income of $789 million.

United also experienced a 3.7% increase in consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) in the second quarter of 2014 compared to the second quarter of 2013.

 

Celebrating summer in the north, airberlin is serving up ice cream from Sylt restaurant, Sansibar, on their flights. Travellers can choose between "Bourbon Vanilla" and "Belgian Chocolate" for 2.90EUR per cup.

The dessert has been particularly popular on flights to holiday destinations like Mallorca and the Canary Islands.
